We Are Protesting For Change

Millions of people across our country and the world are voicing their opinions through protest in order to make a change to the deeply rooted racism in our society. The majority of these protests for the black community have been peaceful.

However, some people are bothered by the “inconvenient way” protesters are going about their message during the protest such as blocking the highways. Many small towns like San Luis Obispo and Santa Rosa, and cities like Oakland and San Francisco experienced this form of protest amidst other forms of peaceful protesting in a means of demonstrating acknowledgement of the current environment. This is a demonstration for you to STOP. Stop what you’re doing, stop trying to ignore that this is happening, stop going about your daily life for this moment. The reason why people are stopping you on the highway is to spread an important message that we must take action. Ask yourself, did you think it was inconvenient? Why? Maybe you’re moving too fast and are living in an unconscious state, unaware of what type of world we are living in. Maybe you are meant to be on the road at this moment because you are the person that needs to make a change. These protesters should be understood and supported because this is a peaceful way of protesting; it can’t be perfect. It is up to us to transpire the energy of “this is inconvienent” into positivity. Remember that each vibration of energy transfers, (energy is not created nor destroyed) your energy will find similar energy to transfuse into a larger wave. These protests are a wave of energy to make a change.

It is true, a small percentage of protesters resort to violence and looting. This promptly shows us what truly an inconvenience is for communities that do not have money to rebuild their local grocery store and won’t be able to for quite some time. This is a means of injustice for our local communities and we need to find other ways to protest safely to get our message across for change and support our intention in making sustainable changes in a right-minded way, not tearing our communities apart.

Maybe your idea of showing up for the black community looks different from the person next to you. Maybe you can’t go to the protest during the day because you have a job or family to care for. What we all can do is talk and connect with each other on similar and opposing views. If the protests are making you angry, ask yourself, why? This is time to reflect on the MESSAGE being put in front of our faces. A message that has been kept in the underbelly of the society we live in. Please educate yourself and don’t just parrot what your friends are doing on social media without truly having your own opinion on it.

I continue to show my support by going to protests and by vocalizing on social media when I come across positive news or educational news because that can make a difference in someone’s day. Change will transpire from community protests, educating ourselves, in combination with making changes locally to make a difference on a larger scale. Start learning about your local justice system, understand who we are voting for, because ultimately these are the people who are appointing the leaders in charge; sheriffs, judges, elected officials..etc.
